In an effort to bridge the gap that can sometimes exist between classroom and industry, IRTS provides an annual opportunity for university educators who teach communications to meet with senior media and entertainment executives. It's an ideal opportunity to discuss the state of business and the latest decisions being made. The generosity of companies and individuals has made it possible for us to underwrite this unique educational experience for more than three decades.

The Summer Fellowship Program, the most notable student out-reach effort of IRTS, teaches up-and-coming communicators the realities of the business world through an expense-paid fellowship, which includes practical experience and career-planning advice. Each year college juniors, seniors and graduate students are selected nationwide to participate in the nine-week Summer Fellowship Program.

Devoted to increasing diversity in the media and entertainment industry, the IRTS Foundation seeks outstanding minority students in their senior year or graduate school to participate in a nine-week summer sales training program. Sales Associates have an exclusive opportunity to participate in a sales training program traditionally reserved for actual station group employees.
ELIGIBILITY Applicants must be college juniors, seniors, graduate students and recent graduates at the time of application. You need not be a communications major, however IRTS seeks applicants who have demonstrated the skills necessary to succeed in a corporate environment, and/or have an interest in communications through experience and extra-curricular activities. Corporations have a wide range of departments (research, programming, production, news, public relations, sales, marketing, accounting, legal affairs, and creative services), therefore they seek applicants from many different disciplines.
