LOCATION: New York City

Dedicated to building future leaders and increasing diversity in the media industry, the IRTS Foundation applauds the invaluable contributions of University Educators and Career Services Professionals. You are the bridge between campus and industry, and we would love to help you prepare your students for even greater success when they get to the other side! That's why we'd like to invite you to our next Faculty Industry Seminar taking place in-person on Friday, November 15th in NYC!

The IRTS Advantage

For more than half a century, the IRTS has staged Faculty Seminars to help educators keep their teaching timely and relevant. We also have a reputation for having one of the nation's most prestigious expense-paid Summer Fellowship Programs and one of the longest-running Multicultural Career Workshops.

We know that introducing students of all backgrounds, interests, and majors to the variety of career opportunities in media is key to our industry's success. We hope you'll join us for an informative day!

Seminar Sessions

This seminar will cover a variety of topics that will enable you to better prepare your students for careers in media.

Welcome & Special Guest

Early Career Recruiting Insights
Hear from Top Media HR Leaders on what it takes to stand out in the hiring process, and how you can help your students prepare for a rapidly changing industry. Our panelists are all developing the entry-level workforce at their companies, and are eager to answer any questions you may have.

Creative Program Marketing: Evolving Strategy to Engage an Audience
We'll be joined by an award-winning global entertainment marketer for HBO & Max who has spent his career enticing global audiences to "tune-in" to premium content. He'll walk us through a recent campaign and discuss how his team continues to successfully reach audiences in new creative ways.

Luncheon & Networking

Managing the Media Landscape: A Panel of Established Professionals Tell All
What's it really like to work in News right now? What about Advertising? Ad Tech? Marketing? Analytics? Product Management? We'll be joined by a panel of successful former IRTS Summer Fellows who now work in various verticals of media. They are eager to share what their work looks like day-to-day, what challenges and changes they are navigating, and how to best prepare your students for success, since they are now managing teams themselves.

Content is Still King: Insights on Producing Great Storytelling
We'll be joined by an award winning, thirty-year veteran of the entertainment business who has developed, produced, and distributed all forms of filmed and experiential content across traditional and digital media platforms. He'll share how his team provides an unparalleled ability to tell great stories while maintaining a program’s integrity and organically incorporating a brand’s DNA & messaging. His work has aired on Showtime, Netflix, NBC, PBS, CBS, Lifetime, History, The Travel Channel, CNN and EPIX among others.

Conferee Selection

IRTS wants to invest in those who are most passionate about teaching the next generation of professionals, as well as those who can best apply their knowledge to curriculum or the academic community at large. Today's digital universe requires a wide range of skills. This program can be of value to faculty from a multitude of disciplines such as communications, advertising, marketing, business, and liberal arts.

There is high demand in our industry for students from all of these disciplines, but they tend to lack awareness of where opportunity now exists in our rapidly changing business.

There is a short application process, and depending on the response, we may need to limit the number of professionals we can take from one school. Faculty and Career Services staff from all departments are encouraged to apply, but you must be currently employed by a 4-year institution.

Application Deadline: Sunday, October 20th
